2017-05-13 Race 5: Hell of the West

Created: 02 May 2017 Last Updated: 09 May 2017

So before talking about racing, we need to highlight just how short the volunteer list is this year.  We like to think this is the best volunteer led racing going around and there is a long tradition of this - it's better cycling and better community.  This only works when a lot of people contribute their talents to the events.

Last year, 550 individuals (410 Combine club members) raced at Combine events.  We need around 150 vols to run the season.  Right now we have about half as many people as required to run the rest of the season.  Without more vols, racing will be at risk.

Time to come out of the woodwork.  Nominate your partner, parents or yourself to come out for a day and make sure these events can continue.

We are back in Balliang for the Hell of the West and will be joined by Footscray Cycling Club as well.  This course includes a very steep climb and a gravel section.  It could be a climbers or a sprinters race.  Get your big cogs (at least a 28 tooth) and good tyres ready.

All riders must enter in advance via the EntryBoss link below. The link also contains further race information.  Please see this page for more entry and scratching policy information.

To show even more support for volunteers, we have opened early entries from 2 May.  Non-vols can enter from 9PM on 8 May.  Entries close on Thursday morning.  No race day entries.
